Must see attractions and other things to do in Bucharest

A three day trip to Bucharest surely is a short break, but we know how busy life can get, especially now that summer is over. All over Europe, the cities slowly become more alive during September, and the everyday murmur of the streets is back as we know it. For some, it's time to go back to school or to work, but if  you wonder how to extend that holiday feeling for a little while longer, we have some good news. If you have to catch a business flight to Romania's capital city, why don’t you consider extending your trip? Autumn never looked as lovely in this city as it does now, and there many things to do in Bucharest that will energize you!

If this is your first time in Romania’s capital, you might consider taking a longer trip in the future, on a personal holiday, in order to fully experience more of the things to do in Bucharest. But, if at the moment you only have a few hours to spend in the city, we have come up with an answer for what to do in Bucharest during shorter stays.

Things to do in Bucharest on a short trip

1. The things to do in Bucharest are best experienced by foot. Start walking!

Take a short walk to the incredible CEC Palace. Designed by the architect Paul Gottereau, a graduate of the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, the CEC Palace is one of the most representative buildings in Bucharest. The architectural details found in this building from 1900 will surely take your breath away. Make sure to add this visit to your list of exciting experiences!

2.  Grab lunch in an iconic Romanian restaurant, found in a building which has been classed as a historic monument: Caru' cu bere (The Beer Wagon).

The gothic revival building was designed by Austrian architect Siegfrid Kofczinsky, in 1899. It is noted for its distinctive art nouveau interior decoration and visiting it is a must on the list of things to do in Bucharest. It surely is one of the top attractions in the Old City center, as the experience is unique - especially because of the excellent Romanian cuisine. A few meters away from Caru' cu Bere you will find another  surprise...

3.  The Stavropoleos Monastery, an Eastern Orthodox monastery for nuns.

A jewel on the list of things to do in Bucharest. One of the monastery's constant interests is Byzantine music, expressed through its choir and the largest collection of Byzantine music books in Romania. If you love culture and are interested to see a small, but significant piece of history, the Old City holds just the right sights for you to discover.

4. End the day with a cocktail in the Old City Center

Night lovers will absolutely enjoy the fun and exciting hours spent at Nomad Sky Bar, a restaurant, bar and club all under the open sky. You do not need a cab to get there  - it's only 160 meters away from the hotel!
